Before you read on

The guides on this site are educational. They are not bookkeeping, tax, or legal advice for your business.

What the site is

An educational resource, nothing more

LedgerKest publishes guides and comparisons about bookkeeping and accounting workflow automation. We explain how a small business or finance team might capture receipts, code invoices, reconcile a bank account, and close a month. We write in plain language, show what a step looks like on a real desk, and note where software changes the work.

We do not provide bookkeeping, accounting, tax, or legal services. We do not sell software, and we are not a reseller, an accounting firm, or a licensed advisor. Nothing on this site is professional advice for your specific situation. When your own books need a decision, the person to ask is a licensed accountant or tax professional who can see your records.

Treat every article here as reading material you bring to that conversation, not as a substitute for it.

Acceptable use of this site

These rules exist so the site stays readable and available to the people who use it for research. They are short on purpose.

You may

Read, share, and link to the site's content for personal or internal business use. Forward a guide to a colleague, quote a short passage with a link back, or print a page for a team meeting.

You may not republish

Copy substantial portions of the content for republication. Rewriting an article and publishing it elsewhere is still republication, whether or not you credit the site.

You may not scrape

Use automated tools to scrape the site at scale. Reading the site with a browser or a standard feed reader is fine; pulling the whole site into a training set, a mirror, or a competitor's index is not.

You may not interfere

Attempt to interfere with the site's operation. That includes flooding requests, probing for weaknesses, or placing load on the server in a way that degrades the experience for other visitors.

You may not misrepresent

Present the site's content as your own, or as advice from a licensed professional. LedgerKest is not a firm, and nothing here was prepared for your specific books.

The short version

Use the site as a reader, not as a publisher or a reseller. If you want to reproduce more than a short quotation, write to us first and we will tell you what we can agree to.

Intellectual property

Who owns what on the page

The text, structure, and original material on the site are owned by LedgerKest or its licensors. That includes the guide copy, the comparison layouts, the reading order of the pages, and the explanatory diagrams we write ourselves.

Product names and trademarks mentioned in the guides belong to their respective owners and are used for identification and comparison. When we write about a specific accounting platform, we name it so you know which product the paragraph describes. Mentioning a product does not imply endorsement, and not mentioning one does not imply criticism.

Nothing on the site grants you a license to use those marks. If you want to quote this site's original material, a short passage with a visible link back to the page is welcome. Anything longer needs our written permission.

Our material

Guide text, structure, original explanations.

Their material

Product names, logos, and marks of other owners.

Accuracy and no warranty

We work to stay current. Products keep moving.

We work to keep the guides accurate and current, but products change and errors happen. A screen gets renamed, a step moves, a plan tier changes what it includes. When we spot a change we update the page and note the revision at the top. That process catches most of it, not all of it.

The site is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. You are responsible for verifying any information before acting on it. Check the current documentation of whichever product you use, and confirm the numbers against your own records. For decisions about your own books, consult a licensed professional.

Before you act on a guide

  • Check Open the current help documentation for the product named in the guide.
  • Compare Match the described step against your own chart of accounts and settings.
  • Confirm Ask your accountant before you change how your books are kept.

If something here looks wrong, tell us and we will check it against the source.

Limitation of liability

Where our responsibility ends

To the extent permitted by law, LedgerKest is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or reliance on its content.

This includes decisions made about software purchases or bookkeeping workflows based on the guides. If you buy a subscription because an article described it, or if you reorganize a process because a comparison suggested it, that decision and its outcome are yours.

Third-party links and mentions Provided for reference

The site mentions third-party products and may link to external websites. We do not control external sites and are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices.

Mention is not endorsement Neither is omission

Mentioning a product does not imply endorsement, and not mentioning one does not imply criticism. Our guides cover the products a reader is most likely to meet in a small business or a mid-market finance team.

External policies Read them on the other site

If you follow a link away from ledgerkest.com, the terms and privacy practices of that destination apply to what you do there. Review them the way you reviewed this page.

How we choose what to cover

A guide earns its place before it is published

Every article starts from a real workflow question a small business or finance team has asked. We check the steps against current product documentation, walk them on a test setup where we can, and note the parts that depend on how your own books are configured. When a topic turns out to be thinner than it looked, we say so on the page rather than stretch it. You can read more about that process on our editorial standards page.

How We Keep Guidance Useful

Changes to the site and these terms

We revise the page, you keep reading

We may update the site's content and these terms at any time. The date at the top of the page shows when the terms were last revised. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Most revisions are small: a clearer sentence, a reordered list, a corrected product name. If a change affects what you may do with the content, we will say so in the revised paragraph rather than bury it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from use of the site is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts located in Illinois.

Questions readers send

Answers to the usual ones

If your question is not here, write to us. We answer terms questions the same way we answer guide questions: with the paragraph that applies.

Can I quote a LedgerKest guide in my own article? Open

Yes, if it is a short passage with a visible link back to the page you took it from. Longer excerpts, full reproductions, and translations need written permission from us. Send the request to [email protected] and describe where the material would appear.

Does LedgerKest do bookkeeping for clients? Open

No. LedgerKest is an educational resource. We publish guides and comparisons about bookkeeping and accounting workflow automation. We do not keep books for clients, file returns, or sell software, and the site is not a substitute for a licensed accountant or tax professional who can see your records.

A guide describes a step that no longer works. What should I do? Open

Tell us which page and which step, and we will check it against current product documentation. Products change often, and a reader report is the fastest way for us to catch a drift. In the meantime, follow the current documentation for the product you use.

Why does the site mention products it does not sell? Open

Because a comparison only helps if it names the products you are actually choosing between. Naming a product lets us describe how a workflow looks in that tool. It is not an endorsement, and leaving a product out of a guide is not criticism of it.

How do I know when these terms have changed? Open

The revision date sits at the top of this page and in the panel above. When we revise the terms we update that date. There is no separate newsletter for legal changes, so the date on this page is the record.
